Dragon Warrior Monsters

Developed by Enix, Dragon Quest Monsters is the first video game in the series. It was originally released in Japan in September 1998 and co-published by Eidos Interactive in North America and Europe. In North America, the game is known as Dragon Warrior Monsters. It was the first in the Dragon Quest Monsters series to feature a cooperative environment, which allows players to fight their monsters. However, the series has a more realistic fighting system, requiring players to be more skilled and adroit in order to defeat monsters.

Game play is similar to that of Pokemon games, and the main difference is that Dragon Warrior Monsters involves breeding. Each of the 215 original species has a gender. You can breed two species of dragons and bring them together to create a stronger one. These hybrids will then be carried around by you until they hatch.
